Just finished Meta interviews. Coding wasn't crazy, but AI Coding + System Design are what really separate candidates.
Meta OA Process
Meta OA is more like an "entry ticket".
- 2 Algorithm Questions + 1 Small System/Logic Question.
- Medium difficulty. Focus on correctness and clarity.
Onsite Experience
Round 1: Behavioral (BQ)
Focus on explaining your thought process and decision-making, not just memorizing STAR templates.
Round 2: Coding (Medium+)
- Maximal Square (DP)
- Simple DFS/BFS Key: Clear logic, clean code, complete corner cases.
def maximal_square(matrix):
# DP solution implementation
pass
Round 3: System Design (Entry-level but Critical)
Standard architecture diagram. Key: Engineering mindset and scalability awareness. Interviewers ask "What if users 10x?" or "What if shard fails?".
Round 4: AI Coding (The Real Differentiator)
This round truly separates candidates.
- Language Constraint: Only Python supported in my case.
- Task: Tokenize, count frequencies, return top N.
- Follow-up: "What if text is huge?" -> Generators, chunk processing, parallelization.
Key: Quick understanding, implementation, and scalability.
Summary & Preparation
| Round | Rating |
|---|---|
| Intensity | Medium-High |
| Critical | AI Coding |
| Secondary | System Design |
| Baseline | Coding + BQ |
Meta values engineering mindset and adaptability over just grinding LeetCode.
Don't Let AI Coding Ruin Your Offer
You might solve 500 LeetCode problems but fail at AI Coding language constraints or System Design communication.
